Kikutake designs his own house in 1958. The project shows all his ideas about Metabolism and domestic architecture. The house has a square plan and it flies on a four columns concrete structure. The upper floor has an open plan with an exterior corridor /balcony (Engawa) and a movable kitchen and toilet. The ground floor, enclosed with the four columns would be initially empty.
The occupation of this space began with the construction of the First Move-net, the son’s room. It was an individual unit that was hanged from the concrete slab. During the years, the ground floor was filled with new units and uses until the initial Move-net is removed, once the son became independent. During the decade of 1980, the ground floor was completely occupied, being connected with the terrain. The domesticity of the Kikutake’s Sky House was created during decades, achieving an accurate result.
