The dream of the modernity was to use the scientific method to design for a universal humanity. My teachers used to talk to me about the modern architects they held up as examples. Perhaps for lack of anything better? I now have the necessary hindsight to know that there is no such thing as universal humanity, and the scientific method can be biased.
